Azerbaijani Prisoner Allegedly Tortured by Armenian Forces During 2020 Conflict

Baku: During ongoing proceedings at the Baku Military Court, Amin Musayev, an Azerbaijani who was captured by Armenian armed forces, testified about the severe mistreatment he endured during his captivity. Musayev reported being shot and subsequently captured during the 2020 Patriotic War.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Musayev detailed his capture and the daily torture he faced while being held. He was injured on November 8 between Shusha and Khankendi and captured on November 11. Musayev recounted being struck on the forehead with a rifle butt after responding to indecent expressions, which led to him losing consciousness due to beatings in a car. He later discovered he had been taken to Yerevan.

Musayev’s testimony included accounts of deliberate medical mistreatment. He described how Armenian forces intentionally inflicted pain while treating his leg wound. Proper medical procedures were reportedly ignored, in favor of painful manual cleaning. Musayev also stated that the violence intensified with his cries, and he was subjected to hot water being poured on him.

Amin Musayev was returned to Azerbaijan on December 14 and has since undergone four surgeries to address injuries suffered during his captivity. The court proceedings are ongoing against Armenian nationals accused of multiple crimes, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, and other serious offenses.
