Baku:During his speech at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev criticized the international community for not condemning Armenia’s actions during the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. He described the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group, established in 1992 to mediate the conflict, as mere imitation.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, President Aliyev accused Armenia’s previous leadership, including three former presidents and their supporters, of being war criminals who have not faced justice. He also alleged that since 2018, the current Armenian leadership has continued the criminal policies of its predecessors. He highlighted a statement made in 2019 by Armenia’s Prime Minister in Khankendi, Karabakh, claiming that “Karabakh is Armenia, period,” alongside threats from Armenia’s Defense Minister about a new war for new territories.
President Aliyev expressed frustration that the international community ignored these actions, failing to condemn Armenia for occupation, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and the desecration of Azerbaijani religious sites. He noted that the UN Security Council did not enforce its resolutions, and the OSCE remained indifferent. Furthermore, he criticized the European Parliament and the Council of Europe for targeting Azerbaijan while encouraging Armenia. The OSCE Minsk Group, tasked with resolving the conflict, was accused of being paralyzed by its co-chairs and focusing on freezing rather than resolving the conflict.
