Baku: Monthly fixed tariffs for gas and electricity in Azerbaijan will not exceed 1 manat, announced Deputy Minister of Energy Orkhan Zeynalli during discussions at the Milli Majlis session on the new draft law ‘On Gas Supply’ and proposed amendments to the ‘On Electricity’ law.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Deputy Minister Zeynalli emphasized that the primary aim of introducing fixed tariffs is to enhance service quality and ensure a fair distribution of costs among consumers. He clarified that this objective will not be achieved by increasing tariffs but rather by restructuring the existing consumption tariffs based on the nature of incurred costs. This innovation has been outlined in the draft law ‘On Electric Power’ and aims to slightly reduce the tariff burden for consumers who pay for electricity on a monthly basis.
The Deputy Minister further explained that the financial capacity of the fixed tariff is manageable, with actual costs estimated to be less than 2% of the total expenses. The fixed tariff level is set not to exceed 1 manat per month for each subscriber, providing an economic basis for a fair distribution of service costs.
