Azerbaijan Resettles 58 Families in Khidirli Village, Aghdam, Returning Former IDPs

Aghdam: The next phase of Azerbaijan’s resettlement initiative has commenced with a convoy arriving in Khidirli village, Aghdam district, where keys to new homes were handed over to 58 families, totaling 225 individuals. This marks a significant step in the government’s plan to return former internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their homeland.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ceremony was attended by officials from the Special Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts, alongside representatives from the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons. The returning families, who were previously accommodated in temporary settings across various regions, expressed their gratitude towards the Azerbaijani leadership and military for their efforts in facilitating their return.

The families being resettled hail from multiple areas, including Baku city, Barda district, Aghdam district, Mingachevir city, Yevlakh district, Gabala district, Oguz district, Aghjabadi district, Absheron district, and Agdash district. This phase of resettlement increases the total number of families relocated to Khidirli village to 188, comprising 737 individuals.

The resettlement aligns with directives from President Ilham Aliyev, as part of a broader effort to rejuvenate the region. Presently, over 50,000 people, including returnees and workers from various sectors, are contributing to the revival of Karabakh and East Zangezur. The returning residents have voiced their appreciation for the comprehensive support provided by the state and paid homage to the Azerbaijani Army and martyrs for their sacrifices.
