Aghdara: A new wave of families has made their way to Sugovushan village in the Aghdara district, where they were welcomed with the keys to their new homes. A total of 53 families, comprising 174 individuals, have now returned to their homeland.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the key handover ceremony was attended by officials from the Office of the Special Representative of the Azerbaijani President in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, as well as the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons.

The relocation was conducted under the directive of President Ilham Aliyev, as part of the ongoing Great Return to the liberated territories. The families, who had previously been residing in temporary accommodations such as dormitories and administrative buildings in various parts of the country, expressed their gratitude towards President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for the state support provided to them.

The returning residents also expressed appreciation for the Azerbaijani Army’s efforts in liberating their lands and paid homage to the martyrs and soldiers who contributed to this effort. Currently, in addition to the internally displaced persons who have been resettled in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, the region is home to approximately 40,000 people. These include individuals working on ongoing projects, employees of local branches of state institutions, and those engaged in healthcare, education, culture, tourism, industry, and energy sectors that have resumed operations.
