Azerbaijan plans to participate in halal industry exhibition in Mecca

Azerbaijan plans to participate in the “Saudi International Halal Expo & Summit 2023” exhibition, dedicated to halal products, which will be held in Mecca on November 19–21, 2023, Chief Executive Officer at Islamic Chamber Halal Certification Services Ashraf Tanbouly said, Trend reports.

“We have recently discussed with the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASK) the participation of the Azerbaijani pavilion in an exhibition that will allow demonstrating Azerbaijani goods and services in Mecca. This will provide an opportunity to expand trade with different countries around the world. The exhibition is a global event. More than 60 countries will participate in the event,” Tanbouly said.

He also noted the importance of creating a “halal” ecosystem in Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijan is closely connected with various countries, including Russia, Türkiye and Central Asia, which makes it an important “gateway” for many destinations. The active development of the “halal” ecosystem in Azerbaijan will make it possible to provide halal products not only on the domestic market, but also on a regional and possibly global level. This will lead to an increase in GDP and exports,” he added.

It was announced earlier that Azerbaijan will also be represented at the “Halal Trade, Logistics & Manufacturing Expo” exhibition, which will be held on November 9-11 in Johannesburg (South Africa). More than 200 South African and international companies from 65 countries in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and America will participate in this exhibition.
