Azerbaijan Imposes 100-Manat Fee for Multiple Mobile Phone Registrations

Baku: Azerbaijan has introduced new regulations requiring a 100-manat state fee for registering more than one mobile phone per person within a calendar year. This development follows the approval of updated rules, which stipulate that individuals bringing more than one mobile phone into the country for personal use must pay the registration fee for each additional device.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, mobile phones will now also be subject to an excise tax. The amendments, signed by President Ilham Aliyev to the Tax Code and the Law on State Fees, dictate a 20-manat excise duty on every imported mobile device. However, each person is allowed to bring one phone per year for personal use without incurring this excise tax.

Regardless of the market value of the phone, individuals importing additional devices in the same year will be required to pay the 100-manat registration fee. The relevant executive authority is responsible for approving the annual state fee for registering mobile devices.
