Azerbaijan Alters Health Insurance Contributions for High-Earning Non-Oil Sector Workers

Baku: Azerbaijan has introduced new compulsory health insurance payment rules for employees in the non-oil and non-state sector who earn more than 2,500 manats a month.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the amendments to the Law on Health Insurance have lowered the contribution threshold. Employers and employees will now each pay 2% on the portion of monthly salaries up to 2,500 manats and 0.5% on any amount above that level.

The new rates specifically apply to private-sector workers outside the oil and gas industry. Previously, the contribution rates were calculated using a higher income threshold of 8,000 manats.

These changes aim to adjust the system of contributions as compulsory health insurance is expanded across the country.
