Azerbaijan detains Iranian citizens on state border, seizes 8 kg of drugs

On December 25, at 8:00 p.m., the smuggling of drugs from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented by 2 unknown persons in the service territory of the border outpost of “Lankaran” border detachment of the State Border Service located near Hamosham village of Astara district, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.

During the investigation, it was determined that the detained persons are citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran – Jamshidi Gulamrza Gachag, born in 1968, and Yusifzada Siyamak Samadulla, born in 1988.

During the inspection of the detained persons, a total weight of 8 kilograms and 75 grams of narcotic drug marijuana and 2 tablets of Methadone M-40, which is considered a powerful and influencing drug, were found and seized.

Operational-investigative measures are being continued.
