Azerbaijan detains 41 trespassers in December


During December 2023, the State Border Service continued measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border, fight against smuggling, illegal migration, and the illegal circulation of narcotics, the Press Service of the State Border Service told APA.

41 people were detained for violating the state border during the month, 20 of them from Azerbaijan, 6 from Pakistan, 7 from Iran, 3 from India, 2 from Algeria, 1 from Tajikistan, 1 from Georgia, 1 from Trkiye.

As part of measures to combat illegal migration, 22 people were detained while trying to cross the state border with fake date stamps, forged passports and documents belonging to others.

834 people were detained for violating the rules of the border regime and appropriate measures were taken against them.

As a result of anti-crime measures, 404 wanted persons were detained by the Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies and handed over to the relevant authorities, 419 persons who were prohibited from leaving the country, and 16 persons who wer
e prohibited from entering the Republic of Azerbaijan were prevented.

As a result of measures to combat the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, 155 kilograms of 280 grams of narcotic drugs and 100 pills, which are considered to be powerful drugs containing narcotics, were detected and taken out of circulation.

As a result of anti-smuggling measures, contraband with a total value of 2 million 357 thousand 830 manats, including narcotics, pneumatic pistols, tear gas canisters, cartridges for shotguns, alcoholic beverages, various medicinal preparations, tobacco products and a large amount of pyrotechnics vehicles were kept.

Measures are being continued to organize the reliable protection of our state borders.
