Azerbaijan Announces Cargo Transport Statistics for Key Corridors


Baku: Azerbaijan has released data on the volume of cargo transported through its key corridors for the first half of 2025. The figures reveal significant movement of goods across various modes of transportation, with notable contributions from rail, sea, and road networks.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a total of 7120.1 thousand tons of cargo were moved by rail, 3752.2 thousand tons by sea, and 5307.7 thousand tons by road. These transport activities were facilitated through several major corridors, highlighting Azerbaijan’s strategic position in regional and international trade.



The East-West transport corridor saw the highest volume, with 8300.8 thousand tons of cargo. In comparison, the Europe-Caucasus-Asia corridor accounted for 4088.9 thousand tons, the North-South corridor moved 4690.5 thousand tons, the North-West corridor recorded 2930.4 thousand tons, and the South-West corridor transported 258.2 thousand tons.



Transit cargo played a significant role in these movements. It constituted 45.8 percent of rail transport, 42.3 percent of road transport, and a striking 95.1 percent of sea transport. This data underscores the importance of transit routes in Azerbaijan’s transport strategy.
