Azerbaijan and Hungary Strengthen Ties with Expanded Meeting in Budapest


Budapest: On May 20, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held an expanded meeting with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orb¡n in Budapest, APA reports.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Viktor Orb¡n expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for his working visit to Hungary and for participating in the Informal Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States. He highlighted that Hungary’s role as an observer state in hosting the summit reflects its commitment to collaboration within the organization.



Viktor Orb¡n praised the ongoing development of bilateral relations and acknowledged Azerbaijan’s support during challenging economic times for Hungary. He emphasized the significance of the strategic partnership between the two countries.



President Ilham Aliyev reaffirmed the friendship and strategic alliance with Hungary, noting the importance of frequent reciprocal visits. He described the Informal Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States as a key development, recalling its origins in Shusha, Azerbaijan, and expressing satisfaction that the event continues in Hungary.



Both leaders highlighted the robust political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Hungary, marked by regular consultations and mutual support in international forums. Gratitude was extended to Hungary for its educational and infrastructural contributions in Azerbaijan, particularly in Soltanli, Jabrayil district.



The meeting also underscored successful cooperation in the humanitarian sector, with Azerbaijani students benefiting from scholarships in Hungary. The leaders hailed growing collaboration in energy, investments, pharmaceuticals, the food industry, and other areas.
