Baku: Azerbaijan has announced a significant humanitarian gesture towards Ukraine, with President Ilham Aliyev signing an order to provide aid worth $2 million. The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan is set to receive the funds to facilitate this support.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this move underscores Azerbaijan’s dedication to humanitarian efforts through both bilateral and multilateral channels.
The aid is a continuation of Azerbaijan’s support for Ukraine, with previous packages having been sent due to ongoing challenges faced by the country. Azerbaijan and Ukraine share a relationship founded on friendship and mutual cooperation, strengthened by several bilateral agreements, such as the 2000 Agreement on Friendship, Cooperation, and Partnership, the 2008 Declaration on Friendship and Strategic Partnership, and a 2022 Joint Declaration by the presidents of both nations.
The order specifies that 2 million US dollars, equivalent in manat, will be drawn from the 2025 state budget’s Presidential
Reserve Fund. The Ministry of Energy is tasked with purchasing and delivering Azerbaijan-produced electrical equipment to Ukraine as part of the humanitarian aid. Additionally, the Ministry of Finance will oversee the allocation of funds, while the Cabinet of Ministers will handle any associated matters.
