ANAMA Warns Citizens to Be Vigilant About Fires in Liberated Areas

Baku: The Mine Action Agency of The Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) has issued an urgent advisory to its citizens concerning the outbreak of fires in territories recently liberated from occupation. ANAMA’s Press Service conveyed this information to APA, highlighting the increased risk due to rising recreational visits and the ongoing return of residents to these areas.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, there has been a noticeable uptick in the number of citizens traveling to these liberated territories for leisure and relocation purposes. In light of these developments, ANAMA is urging individuals to adhere strictly to fire safety protocols. Citizens are specifically advised to be cautious with open flames and to avoid discarding cigarette butts carelessly, as these actions could potentially lead to dangerous fires.

The agency has emphasized the significant risk posed by fires, particularly in areas still littered with mines and explosive devices. The heat from uncontrolled fires could trigger these devices, creating a hazardous situation for anyone nearby. ANAMA has also referenced International Mine Action Standards, which include burning operations as a method for clearing areas with obstacles that cannot be removed by other means. However, it clarified that ANAMA does not conduct such operations.

In the event of encountering a fire or potential mine hazards in the liberated territories, ANAMA advises individuals to promptly contact emergency services using the numbers 805, 102, or 112 for assistance.
