Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that the construction of the Shafag solar power plant (SSP) with a capacity of 240 MW in the Jabrayil region of the country (East Zangezur Economic Region) will begin in 2024. “As for solar energy, a new 240 MW power plant will be built in the Jabrayil region soon. I hope that this project will start next year,” Aliyev said last Friday at the second Azerbaijan National Urban Planning Forum in Zangilan. According to him, hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 90 MW have already been launched in the liberated territories. “By the end of 2023, this figure will reach 170 MW, by the end of 2024 – 270 MW,” he said.
