Iran fully supports the establishment of peace in the South Caucasus, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian said at a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart in Yerevan, APA reports.
He emphasized that they welcomed the initiative of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, regarding the “Crossroads of Peace” project.
The Iranian minister added that his country also fully supports the construction of the International North-South Transport Corridor transit road.
Abdullahian also noted that Iran wants to ensure peace and stability in the region without the intervention of foreign forces.
According to Abdullahian, sustainable peace between Yerevan and Baku can be achieved in the first months of 2024 within the framework of the “3+3” platform. Thus, the Iranian minister recalled that he had a telephone conversation with the Azerbaijani foreign minister yesterday evening. He pointed out that Jeyhun Bayramov’s recent statements indicate the continuation of efforts to achieve la
sting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Abdullahian stated that he had two phone conversations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov regarding the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the last week.
Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that his country attaches special importance to Iran’s clear position regarding the territorial integrity, inviolability and sovereignty of Armenia’s borders.
