Gabala: An information session dedicated to the upcoming thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) was held at the Gabala State Vocational Education Centre. The WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company shared this update with APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the session was part of the ongoing WUF13 Festival in Gabala, attended by the Centre’s teaching staff and students. The event featured key speakers, including Galib Nabiyev, Director of the Gabala State Vocational Education Centre; Ramiz Idrisoghlu, representative of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan; and Emin Huseynzade, Communications Manager at the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company. They discussed the key aspects and importance of WUF13.
Galib Nabiyev emphasized the significance of hosting international events like WUF13 in Azerbaijan, highlighting its role in fostering intellectually engaged young people. He mentioned that the Centre is a leading educational institution in the country, drawing students from 56 districts.
Ramiz Idrisoghlu announced 2026 as the ‘Year of Urban Planning and Architecture’ in Azerbaijan, describing it as a reflection of the state’s commitment to the sector. He provided insights into Azerbaijan’s urban development policy, focusing on employment, inclusivity, and mobility within urban planning.
Emin Huseynzade encouraged young people to participate in the WUF13 session in Baku from 17 to 22 May 2026, which will be accessible both in person and online. The session ended with a Q and A segment involving teachers and students.
The WUF13 Festival will continue with an open-air public programme at 18:00. It will engage a wide audience through interactive activities, educational games, presentations, and discussions on themes like sustainable urban development and innovative urban solutions.
