Bratislava: Leyla Jafarova, Head of the Legal Support and Analysis Division of the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA), and Elmar Gulaliyev, Head of AERA’s Liberalization in the Energy Sector Division, participated in the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) committee meetings during ERRA’s 23rd Annual Conference held on April 27-28.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Leyla Jafarova delivered a report titled ‘Country Updates on Latest Energy News Related to Customer Protection’ at the Customer Protection Committee meeting. This session included presentations from representatives of energy regulatory authorities across Austria, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Moldova, Romania, and Slovakia. The meeting also reviewed case studies from North Macedonia and Lithuania, as well as Greece’s regulatory framework for dynamic pricing. A committee report titled ‘Regulation of Electricity Supply Contracts’, featuring data related to Azerbaijan, was also presented.
At the Electricity Markets and Economic Regulation Committee (EMER COM) meeting, attended by Elmar Gulaliyev, a report on DSO tariff structures was presented. The session focused on grid congestion relief, curtailment reduction, and operations/IT integration, covering aspects like SCADA/EMS/DMS. The meeting concluded with discussions on ERRA’s mapping activities.
Established in Bucharest on December 11, 2000, the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices in energy regulation, uniting 48 regulatory authorities from 44 countries. AERA has been an Associate Member of ERRA since April 2018.
The 23rd Annual Conference was significant for marking ERRA’s 25th anniversary, attended by 300 delegates from 49 countries, including regulatory authority heads, consultants, and academics. The conference theme was ‘Transforming Energy Policies – Adapting Energy Regulation’, covering both electricity and gas sectors.
