Tashkent: Uzbekistan is embarking on an ambitious project to establish a carbon-free information center as part of its broader efforts to become a regional hub for information technology. Sherzod Shermatov, the country’s Minister of Digital Technologies, announced this initiative during a high-level roundtable focused on green digital activities.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Minister Shermatov highlighted that Uzbekistan is keen on transforming itself into an IT center, encouraging IT companies to develop their businesses within the country. To enhance the quality of life for its citizens, Uzbekistan has successfully moved more than 80% of government services online. Additionally, in response to the increasing demand for artificial intelligence capabilities in data centers, the country is initiating the creation of a fully carbon-free data center in partnership with Saudi entities.
