BAKU: “Parliaments can play a crucial role in addressing the challenges of climate change,” Mukhtar Babayev, President of COP29 and Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, stated during the Parliamentary Meeting. This meeting was organized collaboratively by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan as part of the COP29 framework.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Babayev underscored the significant influence parliaments hold as they are responsible for approving budgets and passing economic laws annually. He stressed that political and economic barriers are substantial challenges that need to be addressed. Babayev called for measures that are both fair and ambitious to overcome these obstacles effectively.
