Baku: Azerbaijan is employing the right strategies concerning the repatriation of its citizens who were forcibly displaced from Armenia, as highlighted by Klaus Peter Ralf Jurgens, an expert at the UK-based organization Economyfirst Limited, during an interview with AZERTAC. Jurgens emphasized that the success of this initiative extends beyond preparation, requiring a sustained effort at social, family, and individual levels. The increasing international interest in the matter underscores the global acknowledgment of the right to return.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Jurgens stated that international support must surpass verbal affirmations, highlighting the necessity for tangible, ground-level observation and monitoring during the post-return phase. He advocated for the implementation of control measures at an international level to ensure the transparent and systematic execution of the return process, which aligns with fundamental principles recognized by international law.
Furthermore, Jurgens pointed out the critical importance of cultural heritage in community healing, emphasizing its role in restoring shared histories, identity, and continuity. He noted that cultural heritage acts as an essential anchor for collective memory and reconciliation after conflicts, fostering connections to ancestral roots and promoting peaceful coexistence.
