Ankara: Turkiye and Kazakhstan signed 20 joint agreements in various fields on Tuesday, witnessed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kazakh President Johmurt Tokayev. The agreements were signed following bilateral talks between Erdogan and Tokayev, held during the fifth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council in the Turkish capital.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the agreements encompass a wide range of areas, including a resolution and joint statement from the fifth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council between the two nations. A statement of intent for cooperation in free/special economic zones was signed between the Turkish Ministry of Trade and the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Construction.
Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was established for cooperation in artificial intelligence, innovation, and space activities, involving the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Kazakh Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Space Industries. The agreements also included a science and technology cooperation protocol between the two governments.
Memorandums of understanding were also signed for cooperation between drug and medical supplies control institutions, and between the Presidency of Health Institutes in Turkiye and the National Center for Health Development Research in Kazakhstan. Further, an educational cooperation memorandum was reached between the Turkish Maarif Foundation and the National Education Academy of Kazakhstan.
The agreements extended to the energy sector, with an understanding to cooperate between the energy ministries, alongside plans to develop mining sector cooperation between the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Construction. Urban planning cooperation was also highlighted with a memorandum between respective ministries.
Judicial cooperation was addressed with a memorandum of understanding between the ministries of justice, and a technical agreement was made for cooperation within the framework of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
