Baku: As part of the preparations for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which is scheduled to take place in Baku from May 17-22, 2026, temporary traffic restrictions will be implemented. The WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company, in collaboration with relevant institutions, will conduct a monitoring of vehicle movement to ensure the safe and efficient management of traffic flow.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the monitoring will result in temporary traffic regulations on several streets and avenues in Baku on May 1, from 10:00 to 16:00. The affected areas include Neftchilar Avenue, Yusif Safarov Street, parts of Heydar Aliyev Avenue (up to the Sabunchu Bridge), Mehdi Huseyn Street, Khojali Avenue, Richard Sorge Street, Zarifa Aliyeva Street, Lermontov Street, and routes leading to the Baku Olympic Stadium, the event venue.
Drivers and other road users are advised to plan their travel in advance, considering potential congestion along these routes, and to use alternative roads. The H1 express bus route between Heydar Aliyev International Airport and the city center will continue to operate without interruption. Private vehicles and taxis will also have free access to the airport area via alternative routes, and travelers are encouraged to plan their trips ahead of time to avoid delays.
The vehicle movement monitoring conducted ahead of WUF13 follows a decade-long practice of implementing similar measures for various global events hosted in Azerbaijan.
