Baku: Fatafehi Fakafanua, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga, arrived in Azerbaijan on Thursday to participate in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, APA reports. At Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Fatafehi Fakafanua was welcomed by Milli Majlis MPs Shahin Ismayilov, Mirjalil Gasimli, along with other officials.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Baku will host a Parliamentary Meeting on November 16-17 as part of COP29. The event is co-organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It will welcome 92 delegations from 66 countries and international organizations, totaling around 330 participants. Among the attendees, there will be 167 parliamentarians, including 12 speakers and deputy speakers, who will discuss critical climate change issues.
