Sichuan Governor Highlights Steady Development of Azerbaijan-China Relations Due to Presidential Strategies

Sichuan: Governor of China’s Sichuan Province, Shi Xiaolin, stated that Azerbaijan-China relations are developing steadily, attributing this progress to the strategic visions of Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Xi Jinping. She made this declaration during a meeting with Shahin Mustafayev, the Deputy Prime Minister and Co-Chairman of the Azerbaijan-China Intergovernmental Commission.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting underscored the recent growth in friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation, especially following President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China in April. During this visit, a Joint Statement on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was signed, cementing the cooperative efforts between the two nations.

Shi Xiaolin also recalled Azerbaijan’s assistance following the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, noting how this gesture deepened the friendship and partnership between the countries. She highlighted the increasing exchanges in trade, culture, and education, which include the opening of the Azerbaijan Trade House in Chengdu as a significant milestone.

Deputy Prime Minister Mustafayev expressed Azerbaijan’s keen interest in strengthening ties with China across various fields such as economic, cultural, and scientific domains. He emphasized Azerbaijan’s political stability and favorable investment climate, particularly in the non-oil sector, as key factors for enhancing bilateral relations.

In addition, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Xie Yi, Founder and Chairman of Sichuan Sunsync Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd. Xie Yi confirmed plans to establish a solar panel manufacturing facility in the Alat Free Economic Zone. This project, which received endorsement from President Ilham Aliyev during his last visit to China, aims to export a majority of its products to global markets, thereby boosting Azerbaijan’s position as a hub for renewable energy.

Following the discussions, an Investment Agreement was signed between the Alat FEZ authority and Sichuan Sunsync Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd., solidifying the plans for the solar panel manufacturing facility.
