Russian and Iranian Leaders Confer on South Caucasus and Bilateral Issues


Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, discussing a range of significant topics, APA reports, citing the Kremlin. The dialogue included an update on the recent Russian-American meeting in Alaska, with Putin briefing Pezeshkian on its outcomes.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Pezeshkian expressed support for diplomatic efforts to peacefully resolve the Ukrainian crisis. The leaders also addressed pressing issues on their bilateral agenda, particularly in the areas of energy and transport.



The discussion extended to Iran’s nuclear program and developments in the South Caucasus region. The conversation underscored the intention to enhance Russian-Iranian cooperation across various fields, in anticipation of the upcoming SCO summit in China.
