Baku:As part of his official visit to Azerbaijan, President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Thongloun Sisoulith, visited the “Yanardag” State Historical, Cultural, and Natural Reserve.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the President was given detailed information about the reserve, which is renowned for its continuously blazing flames. These eternal fires were ignited by natural gas escaping from cracks in solid rocks due to tectonic processes occurring deep underground. The fiery phenomenon spans approximately 14 meters and is one of several such natural gas fires found globally, with Azerbaijan being home to many of them.
Following the briefing, President Thongloun Sisoulith also explored an exhibition of handicrafts hosted at the reserve, further immersing himself in the cultural offerings of the site.
