President Ilham Aliyev Highlights Azerbaijan’s Expanding Natural Gas Exports to EU

Davos: President Ilham Aliyev has announced that Azerbaijan is currently exporting natural gas to 16 countries, including 10 European Union members. Azerbaijan stands as the sole country in the Southern Caucasus with its own energy resources, exporting them to neighboring countries like Georgia and Armenia, which rely on Azerbaijani imports. This information was shared by President Aliyev during an interview with Euronews in Davos.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Azerbaijan’s energy cooperation with Europe and the EU is on the rise. The country now ranks first globally in terms of the geographical coverage of pipeline gas. President Aliyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s possession of natural resources, a robust transport system, and modern pipelines, which facilitate strong relationships with many European nations. This, in turn, bolsters their energy security and provides Azerbaijan with the opportunity to access premium markets. While Azerbaijan has recently expanded its natural gas exports to Syria, President Aliyev noted that the European market remains the most lucrative in terms of pricing.
