President Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan and China Have Major Plans to Expand Trade


Baku: Azerbaijan and China have major plans to increase the volume of trade, President Ilham Aliyev stated during his speech at the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum, APA reports. President Aliyev highlighted the potential for growth in trade between the two nations and outlined ongoing efforts to enhance this partnership.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, container trains are already traveling from many Chinese cities to Azerbaijan and through Azerbaijan to the West, with the number of these trains increasing by tens of percent each year. President Aliyev expressed confidence that this volume will multiply in the near future, reflecting the robust trade relations between the two countries.



President Aliyev also emphasized Azerbaijan’s support for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative. He noted that Azerbaijan has developed the necessary transport and logistics infrastructure within the country to support this initiative. Furthermore, Chinese companies are actively participating as contractors in Azerbaijan’s solar power plant projects, with solar panels purchased by investing companies being of Chinese origin.



Additionally, Azerbaijan has recently started cooperating with Chinese companies in the field of green energy production, both solar and wind. Relevant agreements have been signed, which President Aliyev believes will be a valuable addition to the mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and China.
