Baku: Over 50,000 former internally displaced persons (IDPs) have made their return to 28 settlements in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, including six cities. Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, shared this information at the 1st Azerbaijan International Investment Forum.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Guliyev highlighted the developments in these post-conflict areas over the past four years. Significant infrastructure projects have been completed, including the construction of three new international airports, new railway systems, housing, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions. The areas have been recognized for their renewable energy potential and officially designated as a “green energy zone.” In less than four years, 38 hydroelectric power plants have been commissioned, resulting in a reduction of carbon emissions by 620,000 tons. Additionally, solar and wind energy projects are in development.
