Baku: The number of individuals held accountable in connection with human trafficking has been disclosed, APA reports. This was stated in the ‘Annual Report of the National Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking,’ which was discussed at a joint meeting of the Human Rights, Legal Policy and State Building Committees of the Milli Majlis.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, it was noted that last year, courts sentenced 14 human traffickers – including 4 men and 10 women, 2 of whom were from previous years – to imprisonment, including 3 suspended sentences. Three of them received suspended prison sentences.
Fifteen out of 31 accused persons who were wanted locally for human trafficking (15 cases), coercion into acts of a sexual nature, circulation of child pornography, illegal distribution of pornographic materials or items, involvement in prostitution, and maintaining brothels were detained, including 3 established human traffickers.
