NomadMania Travel Club Witnesses Mine Clearance in Jabrayil


Jabrayil: The world-renowned “NomadMania” travel club has visited the Jabrayil district, APA’s local bureau reports. The travelers had the opportunity to closely observe the ongoing mine clearance operations in the Mehdili village area of the district.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Gadir Namazaliyev, the operational head of ANAMA’s (Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan) 3rd demining unit, provided the travelers with comprehensive information about the ongoing efforts. He explained that the mine clearance operations have been active for 92 days, covering a contaminated area of 83,511 square meters.



To date, 56,500 square meters have been successfully cleared, revealing 875 mines and one improvised explosive device (IED). The mines were neutralized by the explosion disposal group, with 720 identified as anti-personnel mines produced in Armenia and 155 as anti-tank mines of Russian origin.



During their visit, the travelers were not only introduced to the mine clearance operation but also witnessed the process of neutralizing the discovered ordnance through controlled explosions. This firsthand experience highlighted the critical work being done to ensure the safety and rehabilitation of the area.



With the conclusion of this visit, the international travelers have gained unique insights into the meticulous process of mine clearance in the Jabrayil district.
