He spoke at the II Baku Sustainable Development Forum on “Sustainable Finance and Investment”. “Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the implementation of the SDG. The SDG closely integrates the 5 national priorities until 2030 and the socio-economic development strategy for 2022-2026 approved by the Government of Azerbaijan taking into account global challenges. This factor serves to accelerate the realization of our commitments under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” he said. Jabbarov noted that Azerbaijan has submitted three voluntary national reports to the UN High Level Political Forum as the first outcome of the work done towards the implementation of SDG in the region. The next report is planned to be submitted in 2024. Work in this direction is already underway. It is very important t
o involve the private sector, along with the public sector, in the implementation of the SDG. For this purpose, a number of measures for international and local investors, as well as enterprises and start-ups have been adopted with the support of the UNDP Country Office. The SDG Investment Map and Investment Ecosystem Study initiatives have been implemented to attract investment in the SDG. “In order to achieve sustainable development goals, 350,000 new workplaces have been created in the non-oil and gas sector. This is an average of 70,000 jobs per year. The next challenge we face is to focus not only on the number of jobs, but also on developing areas that improve their quality,” he added.
