Minister Asserts No Need to Report on European Parliament Resolution

Baku: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov addressed the media regarding the European Parliament’s recent resolution targeting Azerbaijan, emphasizing a lack of need to report on it. “So far, we have encountered numerous cases of European Parliament resolutions targeting Azerbaijan. When talking about European-Azerbaijani relations, it should be noted that there are various institutions here. Several institutions have a positive position towards us and want to develop relations with us,” Bayramov stated at a press conference summarizing the year’s outcomes.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Bayramov remarked that institutions such as PACE and the European Parliament are creating a negative agenda in bilateral relations. He noted that the unfair stance of these institutions has unfortunately affected Azerbaijan’s relations with other European bodies. The Milli Majlis provided a coherent response to the resolution adopted by the European Parliament on December 18. Bayramov highlighted that many European institutions expressed a desire to develop relations with Azerbaijan in 2025, a sentiment to which Azerbaijan responded positively due to its interest in fostering relations with all European entities. He mentioned that if next year, some European institutions move away from their biased positions and wish to normalize relations, Azerbaijan will respond positively. However, Bayramov acknowledged the limitations in influencing these institutions and reiterated the decision not to report on the resolution adopted on December 18.
