Baku: Today, Minister of Finance, Governor of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Azerbaijan Sahil Babayev received a delegation led by Ms. Leah Gutierrez, Director General of the bank’s Central and West Asia Department, who is on a visit to the country, APA-Economics reports. The meeting discussed prospects for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ADB, focusing on projects implemented and planned within the framework of the bank’s financial and technical support.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Minister Sahil Babayev stated that Azerbaijan values its partnership with the ADB. The projects financed by the bank and the financial and technical support provided within this cooperation play a significant role in the country’s sustainable socio-economic development. It was noted that, within the framework of cooperation with the ADB, financing amounting to approximately 5.5 billion US dollars has been implemented for 145 projects to date. As a continuation of this partnership, the Country Partnership Strategy covering 2025-2029 has been formed in line with national development priorities.
During the meeting, there was a broad exchange of views on the development of transport connectivity, the modernization of water supply and utility infrastructure, and the expansion of cooperation in the field of green energy. The parties noted the importance of expanding opportunities for joint activities in the development of the private sector, particularly improving access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises, developing capital markets, and attracting investments through public-private partnership (PPP) mechanisms.
