In the first half of 2023, Azerbaijan’s insurers made insurance payments of about AZN 550,000 on 164 road accidents within the framework of the international insurance system “Green Card”. This was reported by the Bureau of Compulsory Insurance. The report says this is up by 40 per cent and 90 per cent from the same period of 2022 respectively. Ultimately, the “Green Card” losses rose by about 34% to AZN3,300. The main reason for the increase was Turkey’s insurance payment of AZN 100,000 in total for death and bodily injury. However, there has been a fall in the ratio of Green Card payments over the last year. While in January-June 2022, 22 per cent of the “Green Card” premiums were allocated to insurance payments, in the same period of 2023, the figure stood at 7 per cent. Add that in the reviewed period the insurance payments worth about AZN 59.000 were made for 29 “Green Card” cases across the country. This is up by 38.1 per cent and 40.5 per cent from a year ago, respectively. Thus, during the year there has been a 40% growth in insurance payments made for road traffic accidents committed in our country by vehicles coming from abroad
