Lachin: The trilateral summit held in Lachin with the participation of Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Trkiye, and Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, marked a significant step towards strengthening the strategic partnership between the three nations and enhancing regional cooperation.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the summit addressed key issues such as security, energy cooperation, regional transport projects, and joint humanitarian initiatives. President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the symbolic significance of holding the summit in Lachin, a city liberated from occupation, coinciding with Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, and emphasized the historical ties and shared values among the nations.
Zaur Mammadov, an adviser to the Academy of Public Administration under the President and Chairman of the Baku Political Scientists Club, noted that the summit represents a triumph for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and signals the establishment of a new geopolitical reality in the region. The gathering underscored the strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan, Trkiye, and Pakistan, which is being transformed into a formidable military-political alliance.
The summit’s discussions also focused on forming a new regional security architecture. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized the importance of the trilateral cooperation for regional stability and development, driven by shared economic and political goals. He highlighted the symbolic inauguration of Lachin Airport as a catalyst for regional development and integration.
Ismail Cingoz, a Turkish political expert, stated that the summit signifies a strategic step for the future of the region, reinforcing Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and showcasing the emerging Azerbaijan-Trkiye-Pakistan alliance as a power center in the South Caucasus.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the strategic importance of the trilateral cooperation, viewing it as a platform for regional peace and development. Malik Ayub Sumbal, a Pakistani geopolitical analyst, remarked that the summit is a foundational event for a new geopolitical alliance, with the potential for a Joint Defense Pact that could redefine regional security dynamics.
The summit also addressed recent tensions between Pakistan and India, with leaders expressing gratitude for mutual support and advocating for peaceful resolutions in accordance with international law. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev reiterated Baku’s solidarity with Pakistan, while Turkish President Erdogan voiced satisfaction over the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, emphasizing Trkiye’s readiness to support lasting peace.
