Kazakhstan Completes First Direct Rail-Sea Wheat Delivery to Vietnam

Kazakhstan: Kazakhstan has successfully completed its first direct rail-sea wheat delivery to Vietnam, marking a significant achievement in its agricultural export capabilities. The subsidiary of Kazakhstan Railways, JSC “Kedentransservice,” in collaboration with LLP “Fort” and the cargo sender JSC Food Contract Corp., organized the transportation of 10 trains carrying wheat from Kazakhstan’s northern regions between May and September 2025.

According to Trend News Agency, the delivery route traversed from the stations Ak-Kul, Azat, and Kokshetau, through the port of Lianyungang in China, and finally to the port of Haiphong in Vietnam. The transportation totaled 17,000 tons of grain. A notable feature of this project was the continuous use of a single container for the entire journey, eliminating the need to transfer railway containers into sea containers at Chinese ports.

This method not only preserved the quality of the product but also reduced delivery times by removing transshipment processes and optimizing logistical costs. The initiative demonstrated the effectiveness of modern infrastructure and highlighted Kazakhstan’s strategic role as a logistical hub in Eurasia.

The organization behind the project highlighted that this accomplishment opens new export opportunities for local agricultural producers in the growing markets of Southeast Asia, where grain demand is steadily increasing. Kedentransservice plans to expand this operational model and explore further export routes, strengthening Kazakhstan’s position in the global agri-food supply chain.
