Montenegro and Bulgaria to Establish Direct Flight Route for Tourism Enhancement

Podgorica: During an official visit by the Bulgarian government delegation led by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, Montenegro’s Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordic, engaged in a meeting with Bulgarian Minister of Tourism, Miroslav Borshosh. This meeting focused on furthering bilateral cooperation and establishing a direct flight route between Montenegro and Bulgaria.

According to Trend News Agency, this development follows earlier discussions initiated by Kordic during her visit to Sofia in February. Kordic highlighted the significance of the visit, marking it as the first concrete step towards establishing the route, essential for boosting Montenegrin tourism. The Bulgarian market, with approximately four million tourist trips annually, presents an opportunity for Montenegro to secure its place as a key destination.

Kordic also referenced a joint regional project, promoted in Rome, involving countries such as Greece, Italy, Serbia, and others. The project’s goal is to offer a unified tourism package, promoting longer stays and richer experiences through regional cooperation. This strategic measure aims to adapt to global trends of shorter stays in single locations.

Bulgaria’s support was also instrumental in Montenegro’s election to chair the Europe Commission of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, emphasizing Montenegro’s prominent role in international tourism sectors.

Bulgarian Minister Borshosh underscored the importance of continued collaboration and praised Kordic’s competency. He noted the strong partnership and support for Montenegro’s leadership in the European UNWTO Commission, which enhances the country’s international prestige.
