Kazakh president votes in nuclear power plant referendum

ASTANA: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev cast his vote in the national referendum on building a nuclear power plant, Trend reports.

Tokayev voted at polling station No. 211, located in the Presidential Center.

After voting, the president held a press briefing, where he shared his thoughts on the referendum’s outcome.

‘Without a doubt, today will be remembered in history. Our citizens are faced with a choice – whether to build a nuclear power plant or not. A referendum is a highly effective tool of direct democracy. Whatever decision the people make, the state will honor their will. I’m confident the right choice will be made. This is truly a landmark moment, which is why I fully support holding this referendum,’ he said.
