Baku: The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has announced plans to host the Energy Transition Investment Forum for Central Asia in Baku, Azerbaijan, in June 2026. During a roundtable event marking the International Day of Clean Energy, IRENA Director-General Francesco La Camera highlighted the ongoing efforts of several Central Asian countries in the renewable energy sector.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan have officially joined the Accelerated Partnership for Renewable Energy for Central Asia (APRECA) program. IRENA’s Director-General extended an invitation to Turkmenistan to join these efforts, emphasizing the importance of accelerating the transition to sustainable energy.

The upcoming forum aims to address the investment gaps in the region’s renewable energy projects. IRENA’s initiative seeks to support promising projects in emerging markets by bridging financial challenges, which are critical to achieving energy, climate, and socio-economic objectives.
