Hikmat Hajiyev Highlights Progress and Diplomatic Relations in Karabakh

Karabakh: “A new life and revival process is underway in Karabakh,” Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said during his speech before representatives of the diplomatic corps at Karabakh University.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, he noted that this is the 21st visit organized for the diplomatic corps to Azerbaijan’s liberated territories. The first visits of the diplomatic corps to the liberated territories began in November 2020. Today, there are also veteran ambassadors present who participated in previous visits, witnessing how Karabakh has changed and transformed over time.

Hikmat Hajiyev stated that the main purpose of the visit is to demonstrate the realities in Karabakh and the reconstruction work carried out in the region. He reiterated that a new life and revival process is underway in Karabakh, acknowledging the difficult history associated with war and conflicts over the past 30 years.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan is focusing on the future and peace without forgetting the pain of the past, including the Khojaly tragedy. In official Baku’s foreign policy concept, maintaining good neighborly and peaceful relations with all neighbors is Azerbaijan’s number one priority.

Hikmat Hajiyev stressed that due to the state of war, maintaining peaceful relations had not been fully achieved in the past. However, he expressed satisfaction that Azerbaijan now has good neighborly relations with all its neighbors, including the Republic of Armenia.
