Baku:German companies have expressed interest in joining the Middle Corridor ecosystem, as highlighted by Nargis Wieck, Executive Director and Board Member of the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce. This was discussed during a panel titled “EU-Azerbaijan Business Relations along the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor (Middle Corridor)” at the Azerbaijan-European Union Business Forum, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, over the last two years, the German business community has increasingly recognized the significance of the Middle Corridor. This interest is largely due to ongoing geopolitical changes and challenges that compel companies to manage risks and diversify supply chains.
The Middle Corridor is seen as crucial not only for diversifying transport and logistics routes between Europe and Asia but also for enhancing the resilience of supply chains. This development presents new opportunities, particularly for Germany, which seeks to increase added value in the industrial sector.
German investors are particularly interested in participating in the Middle Corridor ecosystem through investments in multimodal terminals, infrastructure, and the application of advanced technologies and solutions. The involvement of German companies is not limited to the mere transportation of goods, as Azerbaijani partners are keen on integrating them into the country’s evolving economic ecosystem.
The transformation of Azerbaijan into a regional hub across various sectors could expand cooperation opportunities for German and other European companies. The increased presence of European businesses in the region is considered vital for strengthening their role as reliable partners.
Nargis Wieck emphasized that realizing investment opportunities in the Middle Corridor involves more than just financial resources. Government commitments, existing programs, and private financing are all factors that can drive success in this area.
