Stuttgart:Italian composer Francesco Maggio has announced the organization of a musical evening dedicated to the memory and legacy of Azerbaijani composer Musa Mirzayev. The event, scheduled for November 21, will be held in Stuttgart in collaboration with the Von Mai Foundation, which Maggio leads.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Maggio’s deep connection with Azerbaijani music, especially with composers like Uzeyir Hajibeyli and Musa Mirzayev, has been a significant influence on his work. He regards Mirzayev not just as a colleague but as a master, emphasizing the Azerbaijani composer’s intellectual and moral approach to music.
Maggio has actively promoted Azerbaijani music across Europe, organizing concerts with Azerbaijani and Italian musicians. His work often incorporates Azerbaijani motifs, notably inspired by the traditional mugham. Maggio’s efforts continue to highlight the artistic and pedagogical contributions of Azerbaijani composers, aiming to foster cultural dialogue and mutual appreciation between different musical traditions.
