‘The first stage of the project on the modernization of “Su-25” aircraft belonging to the Air Force of Republic of Azerbaijan has been completed,’ said Mehmet Demiroglu, Chief Executive Officer of TÜSAS in his statement to journalists, APA reports.
He said that the modernization work on most of the planes will be carried out in Baku, and the modernization process for one plane will be carried out in Ankara:
‘This project is important for both the defense industry and the ecosystem of Azerbaijan. At the next stage, we will bring HÜRKUS aircrafts to Azerbaijan for training purposes. At the same time, involving Azerbaijani military pilots in training in Ankara is also planned. Work in this direction is being successfully ongoing. This process will be fully finalized in the coming months. Negotiations on the giving “Kaan” V generation aircraft to Azerbaijan are ongoing. We are thinking of meeting the needs of Azerbaijan in this direction. Since this project is in the early stages, it is difficult to give any d
efinite opinion. It is planned to continue the project until 2030.’
