First Meeting of OTS Religious Affairs Heads Concludes in Shusha


Baku: The first meeting of the heads of state institutions responsible for religious affairs of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) has concluded in Shusha, APA’s Karabakh bureau reports. This significant event marked a collaborative effort to fortify multilateral cooperation among the OTS member states in the realm of religious affairs.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States and involved delegates from Azerbaijan, Trkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs with Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, opened the event with a speech emphasizing the importance of establishing institutional foundations for collaboration among the member states in religious matters.



Throughout the meeting, discussions centered on various crucial topics, including promoting Islamic solidarity and enhancing the exchange of experiences and information to combat religious radicalism and extremism. The delegates also explored issues related to the regulation of state-religion relations, religious education and awareness, legislation, and personnel training. Additionally, they addressed the preservation of common religious and cultural heritage and the development of inter-sectarian and interfaith dialogue.



As the meeting concluded, the participants were expected to sign a Communiqu©, outlining their agreed positions and identifying future areas for cooperation. This gathering in Shusha represents a step forward in strengthening ties between the OTS member states through collaborative efforts in religious affairs.
