Baku: The ecological condition of Baku Bay will be improved, APA reports. This initiative is part of the recently approved State Program for 2026-2035, which focuses on enhancing water supply, stormwater, and wastewater systems in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula. The program was sanctioned by President Ilham Aliyev.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Program mandates that between 2026 and 2027, the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, Azerbaijan Railways, and the Baku City Executive Authority, must prioritize construction efforts in the area. The program requires that 50% of the planned activities be implemented within this timeframe.
As a significant part of these efforts, a 28-kilometer Zigh-Hovsan sewerage collector and a new pumping station are slated for construction during this period. These developments are aimed at improving the ecological state of Baku Bay by addressing critical water management issues.
