Baku:The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced plans to expand its investments in the maritime transport sector in Azerbaijan. This development was revealed by Nataly Mouravidze, Head of the EBRD Resident Office in Azerbaijan, during a panel discussion at the Azerbaijan-European Union Business Forum.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, supporting sustainable transport and regional connectivity forms a core part of the bank’s four-year country strategy for Azerbaijan, which was approved in 2025.
Mouravidze highlighted that the EBRD had been financing the Middle Corridor long before it gained significant international attention. The bank has already supported the purchase of dry cargo vessels by the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company, which are utilized in international waters and aid transportation along the Middle Corridor.
The EBRD official emphasized the bank’s intention to further expand its investments in maritime transport as new opportunities present themselves in the future.
