Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis meets with Speaker of Gambia’s National Assembly

Visiting Morocco, Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, Chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports Adil Aliyev has met with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of the Gambia Fabakary Tombong Jatta. The sides exchanged views on development cooperation between the parliaments and the current situation in the world. The meeting discussed the establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN) on the initiative of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the country’s successful leadership of the NAM and organization of the Summits of the NAM Contact Group in response to COVID-19. The Deputy Speaker provided extensive information about the history of Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan, their vandalism, expulsion of more than a million Azerbaijanis from their homes. According to him, Armenia has so far evaded signing a peace agreement although almost three years have passed since the 44-day Patriotic War, which had ended the occupation. Along with inter-parliamentary relations, they discussed issues of mutual cooperation within international parliamentary organizations. MP Mahir Abbaszade, Azerbaijan`s ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco Nazim Samadov also attended the meeting.
