BP Contributes to Preserving Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s Invaluable Legacy

Baku: BP has joined the people of Azerbaijan in celebrating the 140th anniversary of the birth of Uzeyir bey Hajibeyli, a towering figure in the history of Azerbaijani culture and the founder of the nation’s classical music and professional school of composition. Hajibeyli, known for authoring the first Azerbaijani opera, was also a distinguished educator, playwright, and publicist. To commemorate this significant occasion, BP has published a special set of books that highlight the composer’s invaluable legacy.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, BP’s recent initiative underscores its ongoing commitment to promoting Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage and honoring the nation’s rich history and artistic achievements. The company hosted an event to unveil these publications and present a concert program featuring Hajibeyli’s masterpieces. The new publications include a collection of Hajibeyli’s unpublished works, compiled in two separate books, a photo album capturing moments from his life and creative journey, and a comprehensive guidebook to the Uzeyir Hajibeyli House Museum in Baku.

Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, BP’s vice president for the Caspian region, expressed the company’s honor in presenting these books as a tribute to Hajibeyli’s extraordinary legacy and his invaluable contribution to Azerbaijan’s national music. Aslanbayli noted that Hajibeyli’s compositions, which blend national rhythms with international tones and are created with deep artistic mastery and emotional depth, continue to inspire audiences both in Azerbaijan and globally. He expressed hope that the publications will serve as a lasting recognition of Hajibeyli’s contributions and his timeless influence as a composer, scholar, and publicist.

The project was implemented by Azernashr at a total cost of 127,560 AZN ($75,035), covering the development and printing of the new publications and the organization of the concert event.
